Hello everyone! Thanks for coming to Nate and I's blog. My good friend from high school, Cher Castle, which is in Boston, by the way....crazy girl, told me about this site where I can create blogs to keep the family updated.
A little background for anyone that we have not talked to in a while: Nate and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary August 18, 2008. It was great! We ate the top of our cake, went to the zoo, and watched our wedding video (kudos to Jenn, Nate's sis). Everything is great! We learn something new about each other everyday, still. It is hilarious to learn a new "voice" or new "imitation" from Nate. He is truly a goof ball. Our paper routes together are never a dull moment, even though they are 3 in the morning! He makes my day each and every day. I definitely found my soul mate! We could not be more like each other if we tried!
Nate and I are in our last semester at Montana State University-Billings. I actually just paid for us to graduate last week. College is extremely hard, and I do at least 5 hours of homework every day! My brain always feels like it has no brain cells left in it! We are Student Teaching in the Spring of 2009. Nate will go the 2nd week of January till the end of April. I will go the first week in January till they get done the first week in June! Nate will spend 12 weeks in a Secondary (7th-12th grade) Math classroom. I will spend 10 weeks in an Elementary classroom and then 10 weeks in a Secondary Math classroom.
Nate works at Ziggys about 35 hours being a warehouse worker/cashier man. He likes working with tools and wood. He is always building something strange for me for our apartment! :) For example, one of my plants was leaning pretty bad so he made a fence-looking building to put around the plant. It is the funniest thing! He also delivers to 300 people on 2 paper routes. I do one paper route delivery to about 165 people. I have to run my route because I have elderly people, who like it right by their door. On the other hand, Nate can put them on the drive way if they did not complain to be put on their doorstep. It helps tremendously because his route takes 1 hour and so does mine! We are doing the paper routes, due to Student Teaching. We can get up, do our routes, and then still be in the classroom to Student Teach for 8 hours a day. We can still have food on the table this way! :)
I won a scholarship not too long ago. It is called the Billings West Rotary Outstanding Achievement Scholarship. I was so blessed to receive this scholarship because MSU-B turned me down for scholarships this year, due to being married. So, I applied to this organization outside of MSU-B. I met with their staff last Wednesday! They are some of the nicest people, and I felt right at home. Their meeting was set up just like Kiwanis is in Sidney, which is the Father club for Key Club, which I was in in high school for 4 years. Thanks to that committee, Nate and I saved it for while we Student Teach.
For all of you that do not know, I was infected by a virus called E-Coli April of 2007. I was very ill and in the early stages of starvation when admitted to the ER. I am still struggling with the affects of the virus. It damaged all the good yeast in my intestines. I had to get a colonoscopy last October of 2007. I was diagnosed with IBS. I go to the doctor once a month. I am feeling a lot better, but after going to school, I have no energy and am totally worn out. Right now, I am on Stage III. My intestines are now healed, but I still only have half of my good yeast. I pray that I can get better enough to not be totally exhausted after lunch while Student Teaching. Every day is a battle, but every day a little bit gets better! I find that such a blessing!
Nate and I will graduate May 2, 2009. After graduation, we hope that at least one of us has a job teaching in Billings or at one of the outside area towns. Nate wants a house very badly! That is all he talks about. We do not have the best of neighbors above us. It would be great to get a place to ourselves with no up stair neighbors! :)
In our spare time, Nate loves watching his Packers, Brett Favre play for the Jets, fishing, biking, anything outside, basketball, football, and watching movies. He is part of a Flag Football league, but can only go there one Sunday a month because he has to work at Zig's. He dreams to try out for the Outlaws, someday, and start playing football part time, while getting paid! :) I told him that I would travel with him and support him 100%. After he is old and his body does not work right (just joking!), he wants to become a football coach, preferably for the Senior High Broncs. I do not know how him and Sulser are going to get along, but I think he would do anything to be around football 24/7! :) I am so proud of him! No matter what he does, he is going to be one successful man! He is also part of a Real Life for Men group Wednesday mornings at Faith Chapel, which he goes with his Dad. He loves the quality time he spends with his Dad! He looks up to him so much! Also, he is the father to 9 babies. Just joking! He has 8 fish and one slurpie fish (from Desi because he got too big). He loves those fish! :)
After 5 hours of homework, I am feeling a little burnt out! So, I sew a lot! My Mom inherited a 60-year old sewing machine from my Grandma and I got it! Thanks Momma! It is wonderful! After some oil, it is like brand new! She took excellent care of the machine. It is a Bernina. I sewed a coffee table runner, and 2 end table mats for underneath my lamps for the living room. They are orange with leaves. So cute for Halloween! I am now working on my Christmas runners. I just completed my kitchen table runner yesterday! I love watching my Broncos. They are having a good year (no comments about last game though...that was just terrible!). Also, I volunteer at Faith Chapel every weekend at the 9:00 Sermon. I greet people at the main doors of the church. I do it with Nate every other weekend. We love giving back to the church! There is no better feeling than making some one's day positive just from a "Good morning, how are you?" I did community service all the time through Key Club in high school and am glad that I am getting back into helping people out.
After much babble, Nate and I are so excited for things coming up this year: my birthday tomorrow (Nate's making me dinner...should I have the fire extinguisher ready? HAHA!), going to my friend's wedding reception this coming weekend (Congrats Kelly!), spending time with Nate's sis, Michelle, and her two kids, Taylor and Sterling, the week before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving in Sidney with fam, and getting done with school the first week in December!
Thanks for reading Nate and I's blog and we will keep it updated as news comes and pictures are taken!
